Multicriteria analysis for the rehabilitation of the anti-seismic heritage.

This project overcomes the research gap on the comparative analysis between the anti-seismic construction systems dated from the late eighteenth century in Lisbon and in Calabria region (South of Italy).

From a state of art that integrates areas generally addressed separately (culture, architecture and engineering), the project aims to decode the common principles of the Braced frame timber Heritage, so called Pombalino and Borbone.

The thorough understanding of these historical buildings may further provide an awareness of the importance of their cultural values, and also support their safeguarding process. The contemporary paradigm of the built heritage rehabilitation is thus discussed with the aim to build a compromise between the cultural values and contemporary performance requirements.

From this operational perspective, the primary purpose of the project is to offer a multicriteria-based straightforward instrument for the multi-stakeholders involved in the rehabilitation of this architectural heritage through the assessment of the attractiveness of the retrofitting techniques applied in half-timbered walls.
