Rail transport is an essential pillar for nations (Kroon, Maróti, Nielsen, 2015). However, the railway system suffers daily interruptions and disturbances; for several reasons, this impact is experienced by passengers using this means of transport (Shires, Ojeda-Cabral, Wardman, 2019). Such context raises the need to develop a proposal from the existing literature, within management of disturbing events of the passenger rail operators, to show the approaches presented in the current literature on the management of the disruptive events in the schedule of the passenger rail operator. This study aims to answer the following questions: What studies have already been carried out to manage disruptive events from the perspective of the passenger rail operator? Which variables and data set are considered in the proposed approaches. What results were achieved in the proposals presented in the literature? Will it be possible to identify a set of more significant variables? Finally, to propose a solution for managing disruptive events.
