IRIS – Towards Natural Interaction and Communication

The overall goal of the IRIS project is to provide a natural and multimodal Human-Computer Interaction technologies integrated in a platform, specially targeted to serve assisted living, well-being and tele-health indoor scenarios and adapted for all users and particularly oriented for senior citizens and citizens with speech impairments.

Our platform adopts the principles of universal design and natural user interaction modalities such as speech, silent speech, gesture, tactile, pictograms and animated talking characters (that resemble the user) with personalized synthetic voices.

The platform provides a set of services that allow easy group communication, access to social networks, friends and remote family members, enabling social-inclusion and fighting isolation of people with special needs. The platform supports also biometrics-based authentication and authorization, ensuring secure access security to personal information in a natural way.
