details
The PraxiS (PraxiStone) project began in 2012 with the creation of the international course “Practices in Architecture”. The first edition of the course concerned stone constructions. Arches and vaults were built in small scales, and used for the study of stereotomy (traditional system) and for evaluation of new technologies (materials and constructive process). We promote interaction between Architectural Design and Construction Technology. The material is explored in traditional and contemporary construction systems. Our main goal is the construction of models, useful for education and research in several areas of Architecture: characterization of the materials; efficiency of the products; methods of design; construction systems; structural behaviour. In addition to these specific goals, we also intend to associate virtual reality and augmented reality technologies that will contribute to the practice, allowing the visualization of the construction and its different elements in an immersive environment and in full scale.
